On a personal note:
Both Doug and I have experienced the grief & trauma that occurs following the loss of a loved one. I lost both my parents to cancer when I was a young adult, and I was faced with a tremendous amount of responsibility & decision making. Following the loss of his father, Doug recognized the need for a company that provides specialized trauma cleanup services. Doug began the process of setting up our first company, Island Trauma Services.
I established the initial infrastructure and developed the website & SEO. Within six months the website was on page one for Google local searches. As a result, we began receiving our first service requests. In our first year, we recognized that there was a large need for hoarding cleanup assistance, and we developed a cost effective way to perform this specialized service to best serve the needs of our customers. Although we did not initially plan to expand our services beyond bio-hazardous remediation and hoarding cleanup, we believed diversifying our business was essential for our continued growth, and we started our water, mold & fire division, ITS Environmental Services, which we have since expanded to include additional environmental restoration services.
I’m extremely proud that we have created a company that provides a valuable service helping people on a daily basis, as well advocating for and contributing to local and national nonprofits.
I’ve experienced my own health challenges, including a cancer diagnosis in 2020. I’ve been very fortunate to have the support of my family and friends, a job that gives me a sense of purpose every day, and I try and maintain a positive and grateful mindset, especially during difficult times.
It’s not always easy, but sometimes the hardest jobs are the ones most worth doing.
